Digital simulation using Fermat number transformsSchool of Engineering and Applied Science University of Virginia Charlottesville, Virginia 22901
School of Engineering and Applied Science University of Virginia Charlottesville, Virginia 22901 This paper discusses the use of number transforms in the simulation of dynamic systems. The structure of these transforms is discussed, and the Fermat number transform is selected as the most promising for simulation. The advantages of this approach are in creased speed and the elimination of multiplications and roundoff error. An example of a simulation using Fermat number transforms is presented and this tech nique is compared with standard techniques in terms of error and execution time.
Key Words: continuous systems mathematical techniques, number theoretic transforms
