Activity scanning and the three-phase approachComputer Science Department The University of Alabama in Huntsville H untsville, Alabama 35899 In an earlier paper ,3 the three generally recognized simulation strategies were described, and their implications for discrete simulation languages and models were discussed. O'Keefe's technical comment4 takes issue with the portrayal of the ac tivity scanning (AS) strategy in Reference 3 and presents the "three-phase approach." This technical comment responds to O'Keefe's objections and further considers the role of AS in cur rent discrete simulation languages.
