We present a simulation language GASP/S, an extension of a well- known FORTRAN-based simulation language GASP IV. GASP IV language has been extended using an integration package for solving models of continuous and combined systems described by a set of stiff ordinary differential equations. The V Runge-Kutta- England integration procedure employed in standard GASP IV is unsuitable for problems of this nature. The integration package STIFFSOLVER-81 used in GASP/S has been developed primarily for use in the field of microbial engineering and chemical kinetics.

Key Words: Digital simulation • GASP IV • methanol • simula tion languages • stiff differential equations • stiff systems • yeast growth model
