Physics Department Walla Walla College College Place, Washington 99324 We present a general purpose discrete-event, stochastic simulation model (HARVEST) which can be used to model the population growth of a wide variety of animal species. A complete example is given with valida tion, to show how it can be used for managing the Eastern wild turkey. The structure of the simulation system (micro Passim) is described, and the implementa tion of the model is discussed as an example of how the process-interaction simulation protocol may be used to represent a complex natural system. The model is designed to be used by state and federal wildlife agencies for exploration of the effects of potential hunting regulations on actual populations of game species.
